He is considered part of a distinguished group of four legendary reciters, which includes Siddiq Al-Minshawi, Mustafa Ismail, and Al-Hussary—each having a profound impact on the Islamic world.
Abdul Basit’s legacy lives on through his iconic recordings and the continued influence of his unique style of recitation. He passed away on 30 November 1988 in Cairo at the age of 61 and was buried in Egypt.
He is survived by his children—Hisham, Yasser, and Tarek Abdus Samad. His father’s name was Mohamed Abdus Samad.
